I serve all of the greater Temecula California area for in home private training lessons and service dog needs. I am available for private training lessons, boarding, and boarding and training at my location in Wildomar California.
I train both service dogs and pet dogs for a variety of needs and behavioral issues. I will not train dogs for protection or any type of trained aggression (I will teach a ‘protection bark’ for people with a service dog, but its 100% bluff). My methods are based mostly on positive reinforcement when teaching, but I will use voice corrections. In circumstances where other options have been extinguished and the dog is in danger, or creating a dangerous situation, I will use physical corrections such a training collar.
Services offered include:
In home private training lessons: $95 a lesson, or $495 for 6 lessons when bought in advance. Lessons last at least an hour and up to an hour and a half. $150 per lesson for dogs with aggression toward humans.
Private Boarding: $65 a day per dog, $100 deposit to reserve 7 days or less, $200 deposit to reserve more than 7 days
Because I board at my home I only board up to 3 dogs at a time, and only board for 1 client at a time. Private boarded dogs receive lots of play as well as basic rewards and corrections on their behavior as needed while the dog and I are hanging out. The dogs are housed in my home and live as my pets while with me. I am open to crating, but dogs are allowed to sleep freely on a dog bed on my floor in my room normally, or roam my fenced yard if I am away for a short period. Boarded dogs will have access to plenty of playing and air conditioning as needed.
I do request that new clients visit ahead of time so that we can make sure your dogs get along with my dog. Please bring your own food. Payment is due at drop off.
Puppy/New Dog Selection: $100 an hour (including travel time)
Puppy selection and shelter dog selection involves matching the needs and wants of the handler(s) with the instincts, personality type and behavior of their future dog in hopes of finding the best service dog candidate, or new lifetime friend. Choosing a dog is an exciting process, but it is the equivalent to speed dating, but at the end you pick a husband or wife with no second date. When I select a dog it is generally a lengthy process involving considerations of owner needs, breed type, owner personality type, dog personality type, and living conditions.
Generally the client has an idea of a breed they want or at least a idea of who they want their future dog to be. From there I can research and recommend breeders if needed, or scour shelter pages searching for specifics. Or if the client has a breeder in mind, or would simply like to go visit a shelter and find a dog, we can do that too.
When selecting a puppy from a litter I do a puppy aptitude test that was developed by Wendy Volhard. It generally takes about 10-15 minutes per puppy and when done at 6 to 8 weeks of age this test is extremely reliable at predicting a dogs personality type and instinct levels. There is no failing this test, it simply reveals who the dog might become. With this information we can make some educated guesses at future behaviors and personality needs, and match those up with the owners needs and wants.
When selecting an older dog I do temperament tests that is a combination of a Service Dog temperament test and a classical shelter dog temperament test, it can last between 1-20 minutes. Dogs can fail this test as it involves some aspects that test aggression. Again I am looking to identify instinct levels and personality types but also behavioral and health issues with older dogs.
The owner and handler always make final decision on the dog they will select and which dogs they want tested, I am simply there to inform and help.
Service Dog Touch up work: $95 a session (about an hour). Training may be at my location, in public, or your home.

Because service dog training is so involved and lengthy, and the training needed varies so much the pricing is highly variable. I will only train a service dog for somebody who qualifies as disabled. I will not certify a dog as a service dog to get your dog into housing. I do not train seeing-eye dogs, just service dogs.
Service dogs can be trained to help with a variety of disabilities:
-Autism
-Mobility
-Quadriplegic or paraplegic help (essentially acting as hands)
-PTSD
-Seizure alert* (I can train the dog to act as a service dog in public, but because nobody knows what cues dogs use to alert to a seizure before they happen I can not train the dog to pre-alert to a seizure. Dogs that do this learn on their own driven by an extreme empathy drive. I can help select a dog with an extreme empathy drive, but nothing is guaranteed)

Service dog training begins with a puppy that will be acclimated to all of the loud noises, scary sights, temptations and distractions of the world. Only a dog that can behave perfectly in the face of all of the variables of the world should be a service dog, suffice to say that does not include most dogs. In exceptionally rare cases a pet dog that is not a puppy can be trained to become a service dog, the chances are not good that your dog is one of them, but I am willing to do an evaluation.
The other half of service dog training is training the specific tasks needed by the client. This is a bit more predictable and in most cases relatively simple compared to the arduous acclimatization training.
Please call me to discuss your needs, but please fully research what a service dog is and what they can do, and the difficulties of service dog training. Service dogs can be failed out of their training program at any moment if they show that they are unfit in public, no matter how much time and money may have been previously invested in training. There are no guarantees in service dog training.
